The Damned are bringing the classic ’80s lineup of the band — Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray — to the US for the first time in 35 years for “The Black Strawberry Ball” tour, featuring “the songs you want to hear by the people you want to play them.” They’ve just announced an NYC stop, happening May 31 at Hammerstein Ballroom. Making it better, also on the bill are The Dictators and Lenny Kaye & Friends celebrating Nuggets.
You can get tickets early for the Hammerstein show with the BrooklynVegan presale that runs Wednesday, March 6 at 10 AM through Thursday, March 7 at 10 PM. Check back Wednesday morning for the presale password.
If you miss out on our presale, tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 8 at 10 AM.
The tour, which focuses on The Damned’s early-’80s classics The Black Album and Strawberries as well as songs from late-’70s, also hits Toronto, Boston, Chicago, the Denver area, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Portland and more. All dates are listed below.
