The Dandy Warhols have joined forces with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash for the new song “I’d Like to Help You with Your Problem.”
It’s the latest single from the Dandy Warhols’ upcoming album ROCKMAKER, out March 15th. As if to make good that album title, the Dandy’s tapped none other than Slash himself for the self-described “Vietnam-era acid rock” song.
The churning chord progression and big hooks are right in Slash’s wheelhouse, and he adds some captivating wah-wah leads and ostensibly the solo in the middle of the song. It’s a seamless collaboration — with some uncanny axework from a living legend.
“The first time we heard it back in our studio we just stared at each other with our mouths open,” said frontman Courney Taylor-Taylor. “What he played on the track is amazing. I’ve never heard him play quite like that, but what is so fascinating to me is that it is clearly him playing. As recognizable as a familiar human voice.”
Taylor-Taylor went on to say that it was a “hail mary” attempting to get Slash on the track, adding that it became “apparent that there wasn’t really anyone else whose hands we could put it in.”
Last month, the Dandy Warhols unveiled the single “Danzig with Myself,” featuring another music legend, Pixies frontman Black Francis.
The Dandy Warhols will be supporting the release of ROCKMAKER with a two-week North American tour in March. You can pick up tickets here.
