Los Angeles trio Winnetka Bowling League released their debut self-titled EP in 2018, and have followed it with a series of EPs and singles. They’ve now released their first new single of 2024, “Sha La La,” which is out now via Local Weather/MDDN Records. It’s a catchy alt-pop track with a dreamy, yearning feel, and it’s accompanied by a video directed by regular collaborator Zack Sekuler, which you can watch below.
“‘Sha La La’ is a song about getting older, romanticizing the past and forgetting all the imperfections that accompanied the highlights,” vocalist and guitarist Matthew Koma says. “It’s really easy for me to look back and wish I could relive certain moments because time and distance has sorta allowed them to be polished and refined. It’s funny how you can create this false memory of how things were, almost only for the purpose of making you feel terrible about the here and now.”
Winnetka Bowling League have a couple of April shows supporting Waterparks coming up in California. See all of their upcoming dates below.
